Wooden Rugby Ball Urn

Based on a full size rugby ball, these beautiful urns are a perfect tribute for any rugby fan.

Years of work has been invested to make sure these rugby balls are truly top of their field.

Lid
One of the standout features is a hidden threaded lid. They are made with a boxwood insert for the threads and the lid is made to perfectly align with the wood grain. Precisely made they can be screwed by hand and have minimum of clearances ensuring an almost seamless appearance.

Presentation
Each ball comes with a kicking tee that perfectly matches the ball contour and is strong and stable to support a full urn vertically.
A custom 60mm x 24mm plaque with any engraving can be mounted.

Wood
Timber is carefully chosen to not only compliment colours, but also to match other properties such as material hardness.

I usually process the timber from field to finished product. This allows me to select the best pieces and also create 'grain matched' balls where the timber is reassembled as it was in the tree.

Quality
The balls are built to the highest precision with a mixture of finely tuned machines and hand tools.

I work to a tolerance of 0.2mm, or two sheets of paper. This ensures the tightest of glue joints between timbers and the most accurate patterns.

This maple and wenge ball was bespoke to match Hull FC colours, with a veneer incorporated to better match the playing shirt.

Finish
The finishing process has many stages and can last days. After careful sanding and grain raising, a sanding sealer is applied multiple times before a clear wax or danish oil finish is applied to compliment the timber.
The result is a super tactile feel that still protects the timber from handling so there is no need to fear handling the urn.

Bespoke Urns
I can source most timbers upon request and can even use your own timber, be it a favourite chair or fallen tree from your garden.

I like to accommodate customers requests as best as I can to make a truly meaningful urn. Please get in touch for more information.
