Horse Chestnut and Mahogany

Horse Chestnut and Mahogany

£1,000.00Price

A rugby ball urn made from horse chestnut with a mahogany veneer in the standard 2 oval design.

This is the first urn made from a giant horse chestnut tree that fell in St. Mary's Church, Kempsey, Worcester. The tree fortunately just missed the church. We were called in to aid removal and salvage the useful timber.

A blue stain has been applied to bring out the rich depth of the grain. Sanding sealer, danish oil and then a carnauba wax buff has been used to give this ball a glossy tactile finish.

A standard kicking tee as pictured can be made from oak or the horse chestnut offcut from the same blank. A horizontal stand can be provided instead if desired - useful for lots of handling or for less secure display locations.
